Leaf Bio announces the launch of BioFelax, the brand name for its plant‑based performance material platform based on FDCA and PEF. BioFleax is set to help transform the textile, fashion, and consumer goods industries, providing sustainable, high‑performance solutions for a wide range of end-uses.
BioFleax uses non‑food biomass (such as agricultural residues and recycled textiles) as feedstock, delivering enhanced plant‑based materials through molecular design and proprietary process innovation. BioFleax fiber is the world’s first 100% plant‑based fiber to achieve industrial‑scale production. It offers significant performance improvements: fabrics enabled by the BioFleax platform provide 3‑5 times higher moisture regain and 60% faster drying compared to conventional PET, along with inherent antibacterial and UV‑protective properties. BioFleax Launch Event
The official BioFleax launch event was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, bringing together key industry partners to advance the industrialization of bio‑based polyester and to share recent progress. Xinfengming Group, a global leader in polyester filament, announced that the world’s first kilo‑ton demonstration line for bio‑based polyester filament is expected to be completed within the year. Shanghai Different Advanced Material Co., Ltd. presented functional development directions for BioFleax staple fiber at the event, including high‑strength fibers and specialty fabrics, expanding its potential in differentiated and high‑value textile markets.
