Leaf Bio has achieved Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification for FDCA, PEF and BioFleax® Fiber — making it the world’s only company with GRS certification covering FDCA, PEF and PEF Fiber.
Developed by Textile Exchange, GRS is one of the most widely recognized standards for recycled materials, covering chain of custody, environmental management, social responsibility, and chemical management. The certification confirms Leaf Bio’s capabilities in recycled-content management, traceability and responsible manufacturing across the material value chain.
BioFleax：Setting a New Benchmark for Upcycling
BioFleax is Leaf Bio’s plant-based performance materials platform towards for textile. As the only GRS‑certified PEF fiber globally, it combines plant‑based innovation with recycled‑content feedstock, strengthening its Textile‑to‑Textile (T2T) pathway.
Beyond enabling closed‑loop circularity for itself, BioFleax also enables the upcycling of textile waste that currently lacks effective recycling methods. Through Leaf Bio’s proprietary technology, recycled cotton, lyocell, viscose and their synthetic blends can be converted into FDCA platform molecules and further processed into high‑performance PEF materials. This pathway moves beyond traditional downcycling, establishing a new circular value chain that allows waste textiles to re‑enter the material system at a higher value level.
The GRS certification validates this pathway, confirming that high‑performance PEF fibers can be produced from waste textile feedstocks. It also strengthens BioFleax’s position within the international standards framework required for global brand supply chains.
